SADDA: Six persons, including two women and an infant girl of a family, were killed and as many injured as fierce clashes continued between rival groups in different parts of the troubled Lower Kurram Agency on Sunday.

Sources said severe fighting was going on in Balishkhel, Khar Killay, Sangeena and Sadda City where the rival parties were using heavy weapons against each other. Three persons, including two women and an infant girl of a family, were killed and two other women seriously injured when a mortar shell struck a house in Sadda City. The sources said three men were killed and four others injured in fresh clashes, raising the number to 11 of those killed so far in the six-day incessant fighting. Around 31 persons of both the warring tribes have been wounded.

It is feared that the clashes might spill over to other areas, as the government had not yet taken any step to stop the fighting. Meanwhile, the elders of the six tribes and members of the Sadda Peace Committee said during a joint press conference that they had unilaterally announced ceasefire on Friday for the sake of peace, but the Turi tribes allegedly continued the fighting.
