SW operation in progress: 8 extremists dead WANA: At least eight extremists have been killed and 11 others injured in the fresh crackdown of the security forces in various area of South Waziristan Agency, Geo News reported Sunday.

The extremists are fleeing from the areas after the security forces entered the stronghold of extremists. The extremists are believed to be arriving in Orakzai Agency, Kurram Agency and North Waziristan.

To stem the inflow of extremist in the area, curfew has been clamped in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) area of Razmak.

According to sources, the security forces continued the search operation in South Waziristan Agency areas of Makin and Ladha, where eight extremists were killed and 11 others including a commander were injured in the fresh action.

The forces are pounding the hideouts of extremists with fighter jets, gunship helicopters and heavy artillery.

Meantime, search operation has been started in Kurram Agency area of Lower Kurram, where an extremist was killed and three others were injured; while, several others have been arrested.

Pak-Afghan border is still closed today on the third consecutive day.

ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) legislators during their meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday sought his intervention to defuse the long-standing humanitarian crisis in Kurram Agency.

Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash drew the president’s attention towards the tense

situation in the agency, particularly gripping Parachinar and some of its adjoining areas for almost two years.

The lawmaker explained how serious the situation had become, as stocks of food and medicines had almost exhausted.

“Even life-saving drugs are not available there,” he said.

“Senator Bangash raised the issue during the meeting at the President House and expressed concern over the continuous blockade of the main road leading towards the Kurram Agency,” said ANP Senior Vice-President Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel, when The News contacted him.

ANP President Senator Asfandyar Wali called for more measures to improve law and order and security situation, particularly in Darra Adamkhel and some other areas, infested with militants.

Kurram Agency: one extremist killed, 3 hurt PESHAWAR: Security forces have killed one extremis and injured three others in Kurram Agency Saturday, whereas two persons were killed when a van hit a landmine.

According to sources, security forces killed an extremist and wounded three others in Chapri area of Kurram Agency, while security forces arrested 10 suspects in Lower Kurram.

Meanwhile, police arrested three terrorists in a raid on a shop in Taza Gram area of Lower Deer.
