3 killed as rivals exchange fire

PARACHINAR: Three persons were killed and four others sustained injuries when two warring groups fought over the construction of a disputed trench in the limits of Khar Killay in Lower Kurram on Tuesday.

Sources said tension in the area was created when Tori tribesmen of Balishkhel area started construction of a trench in the limits of Khar Killay. Residents of the Khar village restrained the construction that led to an exchange of fire.

Meantime, when local jirga members along with an official of the political administration Ghulam Sakhi tried to resolve the dispute, the Balishkhel tribesmen allegedly fired at them too. As a result, three persons were killed on the spot.

Two of the dead were identified as Johar Ali son of Qadam Ali and Syed Shah Hussain. Among the four injured persons, one Naseebur Rehman was a personnel of the Frontier Corps.. The inured were rushed to the hospitals in Parachinar and Sadda. However, the fighting was continuing between the two warring tribes till filing of this report.
